Panettone Classico: An Authentic Italian Christmas Tradition, Handcrafted in Kent
Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a beautifully baked panettone. Soft, buttery and wonderfully light, this iconic Italian festive bread has been enjoyed for generations, bringing family and friends together around the table.
At Amazing Grace Bakery, we’re proud to handcraft our Panettone Classico in Kent using authentic Italian methods, carefully selected ingredients and plenty of patience. Every loaf is made in small batches using our traditional Pasta Madre, rich butter, fresh egg yolks, premium Madagascan vanilla, fragrant candied citrus peel and raisins gently steeped in Marsala wine.
We’re delighted that our Panettone Classico was awarded 2 Stars in the Great Taste Awards, one of the UK’s most respected food accreditation schemes. Judged through a blind tasting by industry experts, this recognition reflects the flavour, quality and craftsmanship that goes into every panettone we bake.
More Than Just a Christmas Cake
Often compared to a traditional fruit cake, panettone is something entirely different.
Its light, airy texture comes from a slow natural fermentation and careful handling of the dough, creating delicate strands that pull apart beautifully. Every slice is rich and buttery, balanced by sweet raisins and bright citrus notes.
This unique combination of flavour, texture and craftsmanship has made traditional panettone a Christmas favourite for generations across Italy and beyond.
Crafted the Traditional Way
Great panettone simply can’t be rushed.
Every loaf begins with our Pasta Madre, a natural sourdough starter that gives the dough its distinctive flavour, gentle rise and wonderfully light texture. Carefully nurtured and refreshed before each bake, it sits at the heart of every artisan panettone we make.
The dough undergoes a long fermentation before being enriched with butter, egg yolks and fruit. After proving and baking, each loaf is hung upside down to cool naturally, helping preserve its exceptionally soft and airy crumb.
It’s a lengthy process, but one that’s worth every minute.
The Finest Ingredients
We believe exceptional panettone begins with exceptional ingredients.
Our Panettone Classico is made using:
- Rich butter
- Fresh egg yolks
- Premium Madagascan vanilla
- Candied orange and lemon peel
- Raisins steeped in Marsala wine
- Our traditional Pasta Madre
Every ingredient has been carefully chosen for the flavour, aroma and character it brings to every bake.
A Beautifully Balanced Flavour
One of the defining characteristics of authentic Italian panettone is its delicate balance of flavours.
The candied orange and lemon peel bring bright citrus notes and gentle sweetness, while the Marsala-infused raisins add depth, warmth and natural richness. Premium Madagascan vanilla enhances the buttery dough without overpowering the other ingredients, creating a beautifully rounded flavour profile.
Together, these carefully selected ingredients create a panettone that’s elegant, aromatic and unmistakably festive.
The Beauty of Simplicity
There’s something special about a classic recipe that’s been perfected over time.
Without chocolate, creams or elaborate fillings, Panettone Classico allows every ingredient to shine. Rich buttery dough, fragrant citrus and plump wine-soaked raisins come together to create a loaf that’s comforting, refined and full of festive character.
It’s this commitment to traditional methods, premium ingredients and patient craftsmanship that makes our panettone such a pleasure to share during the holiday season.
A Centrepiece for Christmas Celebrations
Whether served after Christmas lunch, enjoyed with coffee on Boxing Day or given as a thoughtful festive gift, panettone has a remarkable way of bringing people together.
Its light texture and delicate flavour make it suitable for any time of day, from a leisurely festive breakfast to an indulgent after-dinner treat shared with family and friends.
How to Enjoy Your Panettone
Panettone is delicious straight from the bag, but we think it’s even better served slightly warm.
Place a slice in a preheated (but switched off) oven for a minute or warm it gently in a dry frying pan. This releases the buttery aroma and softens the crumb beautifully.
